Like many of you, I have also had my own struggles. Some of those struggles included anxiety (general and social), depression, and a lack of self-esteem. With these struggles came many lows. There were moments where I felt so lost and stuck. When I was able to accept and better understand what I was experiencing, I was able to develop appropriate coping skills, mindfulness, self-acceptance and self-compassion. This allowed me to eventually find a sense of peace within myself. It was empowering to take control of the negative thoughts and emotions. With the necessary help and support, I was able to achieve my own sense of balance and I felt like I was finally on the right track.
I can understand how difficult life transitions may be. After receiving my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from The State University of New York at Potsdam, I took some time off from school and explored opportunities in the service industry and legal field. Though I learned a lot from these opportunities and experiences, I had always felt like something was missing. I knew I wanted to pursue graduate school in order to continue following my passion and find a career in the mental health field. I received a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology through Yorkville University. During my studies, I saw clients who experienced many different life challenges. I worked with individuals, couples, and families. Throughout this time, I came to understand myself as a therapist and the approach I wish to take with my clients.
I take an integrative approach. My orientation is primarily client-centred, and I incorporate components of Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT), Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectal Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Strength-Based Therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Narrative Therapy. I see clients with varying concerns, such as anxiety, stress, depression, life transitions, relational, emotion regulation, and self-esteem.

After graduating university, I was working within a school system where I was continuously surrounded by groups of individuals with differing emotions, behaviours, and reactions. It was within this job that I truly started to grasp the importance of recognizing how lived experiences can be reflected in individual needs, strengths, goals, and identities. It was with this understanding in mind that I realized I wanted a career in which I could foster an environment that allowed for the exploration of these aspects. As such, I decided to further my education and received my Masters of Arts in Counselling Psychology (MACP) through Yorkville University.
It was through this program and my subsequent work after that I became dedicated to offering a non-judgemental, empathetic, supportive, and safe environment where we are able to work together on the path towards personal development. However, I understand that it can be scary and intimidating to reach out and ask for support. This first step can often be the most difficult and I recognize the strength it takes to unravel and bring attention to these concerns. I am committed to actively listening, collaborating on goals, gaining a better understanding of the creation and maintenance of patterns, and helping with the gaining of and increasing of coping skills. In sessions, I tend to take a client centered approach but offer components of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), and somatic therapy. I am passionate about working with individuals experiencing any type of conflict, stressors, anxiety, or challenges, and I look forward to working alongside you.

I have been fortunate to have had the opportunity to live in many communities across Canada. These experiences have given me a unique perspective on the importance of adopting a balanced mindset. We all face trials in our careers, relationships and personal well-being. Together, we can work towards healing, awareness and clarity. After completing my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at Western University, my passion to pursue a career in counselling intensified. My journey into the mental health field began at Yorkville University through the Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology program.
Working as a counsellor is extremely rewarding. With the increase in mental health challenges, heightened by the advent of the pandemic, a compassionate and person-centred approach is key. We will collaborate to explore feelings and offer reflection. I provide in-person and virtual counselling for youth, adolescents, adults, couples and families. We will navigate through experiences of anxiety, depression, self-esteem, self-acceptance, relationships, and life transitions to maintain a balanced mindset. I primarily work from a Person-Centred Approach (PCT) with integrated components of Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Strengths-Based Therapy (SBT), and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT). I believe an integrative approach, which best suits your needs, is crucial for healing.

Seeking support for mental health is a sign of strength. It is the personal recognition that warm, non-judgemental, unconditional positive regard, compassion, and connection are essential for well-being and growth. I work with adolescents, individuals, and couples to collaboratively identify meaningful change. Together we create goals and work to achieve them. I commit to fostering an authentic relationship, with you taking the lead in your positive outcome.
I have completed my Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology through Yorkville University. I graduated Wilfrid Laurier University in 2004 with an Honours degree in political science, general in history, minor in developmental psychology. I then received a diploma in medical administration and have spent the last 17 years in this field. I possess the wisdom of lived experience. I bring an integrated approach and counsel using Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Choice Theory and Reality Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT), Mindfulness, Narrative, and Trauma-informed care. I emphasize strengths-based and person-centered strategies. I see individuals for anxiety, depression, grief, conflict, life transitions, and the full range of what life may put in our path. I look forward meeting you.
